The Perak State Government, through Menteri Besar Incorporated (Perak), has reaffirmed its position as a national leader in the mineral industry with the official launch of Terra Mineral Lab Sdn. Bhd. (TML) and the Centre of Excellence for Mineral Research (CoE). The historic event was officiated by the Menteri Besar of Perak, YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.

This milestone marks a new chapter in Malaysia’s mineral sector with the establishment of TML, the country’s first commercial mineral analysis laboratory. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, TML offers advanced analysis, identification, and verification of mineral content, particularly non-radioactive rare earth elements (NR-REE). The facility is positioned to become a symbol of technological advancement in Malaysia’s mineral industry.

Designed to be the nation’s premier mineral analysis laboratory, TML features world-class scientific instruments. Its services extend beyond Perak, catering to industry stakeholders nationwide, further positioning the state on the global mineral industry map.

Alongside the launch of TML, YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad also officiated the CoE as part of Perak’s Responsible Mining Strategy. This initiative, in collaboration with Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR) and leading universities including Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), will provide opportunities for local talent to engage in world-class mineral research.

The event was attended by State Legal Advisor, YB Dato’ Azmir Shah bin Zainal Abidin; State Financial Officer, YB Dato’ Mohd Zaki bin Mahyudin; Deputy State Secretary (Development) and Director of the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), YBrs. Puan Halizah binti Sipun; Chief Executive Officer of MB Inc. Perak, Dato’ Anuar Zainal Abidin; as well as heads of state and federal government agencies.

The official launch of TML and CoE represents a strategic move by MB Inc. Perak to advance the Responsible Mining agenda outlined in the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan. This high-impact initiative is expected to drive sustainable economic growth and solidify Perak’s position as Malaysia’s leading NR-REE industry hub.
